of an eleven-part run that spotlights albums that have big anniversaries next year, it takes me to 1972. Great L.P.s that are fifty-five in 2027. Among them are some real classics. Steely Dan’s debut, Can’t buy a Thrill, in addition to albums from David Bowie, Nick Drake, Aretha Franklin, and The Rolling Stones. I am not sure which year I am covering has the most genius albums. I suspect that it might be 1977, but then 1997 has a fair few, as did 1967. 1972 was no slouch either. Some of the best we have ever heard came out that year. I have included as many as I can, trying to get a good spread in terms of genres. Although you might not have been alive in 1972 when these albums came out – I certainly wasn’t -, they have endured and still sounds remarkable to this day. Take a listen to the mix below which assorts golden cuts from…
THE best 1972 had to offer.
