Never Going Back Again
Songs from Albums Turning Fifty in 2027

PRESSING on with…
this series that combines songs from albums celebrating big anniversaries next year, we are now at 1977. The big fiftieth. Included in the best of 1977 are Rumours by Fleetwood Mac, and Sex Pistols’ Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols. It was a tremendous year. I guess Disco was still a thing. Punk burning bright. New Wave too. It was a really interesting time for music. I do think that a lot of the best and most important music was coming out of the U.K. The Clash and Elvis Costello among those who gave us these incredible albums. I have compiled a mixtape containing songs from the best albums of 1977. Again, you may not have been there the first time around. These songs and albums endure to this day. I wonder how many of these albums will get reissues next year for their fiftieth. Rumours is one of the best-selling albums ever, so I am not sure whether there is anything in the archives that can be added. It is obvious that 1977 is one of the best years for music…
WE have seen.
